The Council has 5 members and Mayor. It meets the first Monday of every month at 7:00 pm in the City Building. Meetings are open to the public. The siren is sounded to start each meeting.
FILING INFORMATION:
All candidates' filings for office MUST be done in the County Clerk's Office. The Declaration of Intention and all filing papers must be signed in front of the county clerk. The filing fee is $20.00 for all positions. PLEASE encourage individuals to file so that there are names on the ballots. If no one files, the position will be filled by write in votes. This could be anyone that lives in the Precinct and is a registered voter (in Clay County). Write in votes are very difficult to work with at an Election. You basically have no control of who will be on the City Council if you fill the positions with write in votes. The filing deadline is June 1st at NOON.
