The Wakefield Recreation Association (WRA)

The Wakefield Recreation Association (WRA) is an all-volunteer organization sponsored by the City of Wakefield. The mission of the WRA is to provide a foundation upon which our children, grades K-8th, can build their skills in soccer, basketball and baseball. The WRA board members are elected annually. The WRA meets once a month, usually at 7:00 pm on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the City Building at 609 Grove Street. Any changes to the meeting time or place will be posted at the City Building and Short Stop. All parents/volunteers are encouraged to attend. Participating in the WRA provides an avenue for getting involved in our community. Coaches, referees, umpires, and coordinators are always needed. If you are interested in any of these positions please come to a meeting or call one of the board members. As a fundraiser, we run the concession booth during baseball season. We can always use volunteers to help with concessions. Our sports teams participate in the Fort Riley and Junction City leagues. The fall soccer season (K-5th) starts in September and runs until the first of November. We have a winter basketball (K-5th) instructional program on Saturday mornings that starts the beginning of January and ends mid February. Our spring soccer season (K-8th) starts at the end of March and will conclude by mid May. T-Ball and baseball (K-6th) season starts in June and runs through the end of July. The WRA is a great way to support your community and your children.
