Public Notice

The City of Wakefield is considering major infrastructure rehabilitation improvements to the sanitary sewer system and Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). The WWTF requires desludging and piping realignment. The original Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP) sewer collection system is over 50 years old and is showing signs of deterioration based on information from Operation and Maintenance reports and visual Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspections. The City is in the preliminary stages of planning and development and the final improvements will most certainly require sewer rate increases to pay for the infrastructure improvement costs. Your city council is working with BG Consultants to identify the scope and phasing of this work. You are encouraged to attend a Town Hall style meeting at 7:00 pm on June 27th at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 406 6th St., for a general presentation followed by questions and answers. If you have not turned in your income survey or have lost it, you will have an opportunity to do so at the meeting.
We hope you will attend.
